Policies

The policies every applicant and credential holder agrees to. The candidate handbook in effect on the date IBHBOT receives your application applies to you.

Fees and Refunds

All fees are paid to IBHBOT, by the candidate or by an employer or sponsor. The exam fee is paid with the application, or with an exam voucher purchased by an employer.

  • Application denied: the exam fee is refunded in full.
  • Approved to test: no refund from the moment you are approved, whether you pass, fail or do not take the exam.
  • Retakes: a retake requires a new exam purchase. Wait at least 30 days between attempts. After three failures in 12 months, complete the IBHBOT course again before reapplying.

Examination Rules

Exams are online and timed. Do not copy, record, share or discuss exam questions; doing so voids your result and is grounds for discipline. Exam questions are not released. A candidate may request a review of a testing irregularity within 30 days.

Testing Accommodations

IBHBOT provides reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Request them on your application with documentation from a qualified professional.

Code of Conduct and Discipline

IBHBOT may deny, suspend or revoke a credential for dishonesty or misrepresentation, including falsified hours, signatures or documents; cheating or sharing exam content; practicing outside the scope of any license held; gross or repeated negligence; impairment at work; unauthorized disclosure of patient information; abuse or harassment; a disqualifying criminal conviction; or misuse of an IBHBOT credential or name.

  1. NoticeA written statement of the alleged violation and the facts.
  2. Response30 days to respond in writing and request a hearing.
  3. HearingA panel of three uninvolved board members, by video or telephone.
  4. DecisionWritten findings and any sanction.
  5. AppealWithin 30 days, to a separate panel. The appeal decision is final.

The same appeal process applies to denied applications and denied RHT portfolios.

Using Your Credential

Credentials belong to individuals and may be used only while current. Correct: “Jane Doe, AHT”, “John Doe, RHT”, “Jane Doe, NRP, DMT-A”. Not permitted: RHT before it is issued, or any credential after it lapses or is suspended.
